The purpose of this post is to
make text-to-text connections between Night
and other novels. This post will be in
your own voice/words, not your novel’s character.
- Post = Explain/describe a major conflict within a novel you are reading (or have read). Is this an internal struggle or are you battling some external force? Then, compare or contrast your character’s conflict with an internal or external conflict experienced in Night. Provide details and write a paragraph of 4-5 sentences in length.
- Response = Respond to another classmate’s post by comparing or contrasting your novel’s conflict with theirs. Provide a detail from your novel to support your response which should be a minimum 3 sentences in length.
Don’t forget to mention your book title within your post and your response.
Book - Skinny
ReplyDeleteEver struggles with her body weight, she weighed about 300 Pounds. Ever since her mom died she gained more weight and she had a voice inside her head, she calls her skinny who judges her and makes her feel bad about herself and weight. Skinny tells her she is ugly and fat and no one will ever love her. This is a internal conflict becuse its within her and her feelings.
The conflict in Skinny is totally different from Night because the main character Elie internal conflict is seeing things that are dehumanization. like when he sees people being throwned into the flames, being burned, he questions why he is still alive? how he got lucky.
DeleteThe comflict in my story is an external conflict. It is a conflict with with a character that has kinapped the main charcter and forcing them to do things. This can be like night considoring that they both were taken when not wanted. They were both forced to help peope they did not want to.
ReplyDeleteMy conflict is the same my characters are forced to live in this Dyson Sphere. They have to help ever one they can but do not want to. They are taken to Onyx the plant even though they do not want to be there.
DeleteMy characters are stuck in a Forerunner Dyson Sphere, on the planet Onyx. There are battling some outside forces like birds that dive bomb them. And a shadow thing that attacks a spartan named Lucy. My conflict is like nights conflict because they do not know what will happen all they know is they need to stay alive to hopefully escape this nightmare they can be happy again. They will be able once they are saved to live life like normal again but never forget the ones who died.
ReplyDeleteIn the book night there is a lot of conflict and a lot of stuff happening. I'm the book called a light in the forest, one of the main conflicts in a light in the forest. Is when the Americans come into the village and are taking all the Americans that the Indians have captured, the village chief has raised an American boy since he was little, so there pretty much taking his son away from him.
ReplyDeleteA conflict in night when elie walk in on that naked girl. The man finds elie puts hI'm on a crate and they start to whip him. Elie said that he would rather it be him then his father because him father would get it even worse.
DeleteTris Prior from Divergent faces many problems. Most of them not as bad as ellie but still pretty bad. Her whole community is under siege and everyone is fighting and getting shot. All of the factions revolted against the eruidite because they made simulation serums and injected people, making them follow the rules and directions of Johanna. In night, Ellie is faced with many dangers and worries like Tris is facing.
ReplyDeleteIn my book, The Maze Runner, the main character, Thomas, is stuck in this place and he has no idea how he got there or why he is there or how to get out. He doesnt remember his name or where he came from but he knows he wants to be a maze runner. This is internal. This is like Night because both of the characters don't know what where they are or what theyre doing in this new place they are in.
ReplyDeleteThat is how my character is in my book, The Chosen One, but she can't find her way though life
DeleteThe conflict in TMR is similar to night because the main characters both deal with a lot of internal conflict like lesving their families and not knowing where theyre going or anything
DeleteIn the novel Wuthering Heights, heathcliff has to deal with catherines death just as ellie has dealt with so many deaths. The difference is that everyone around ellie is being killed in such an inhumane way that its orobably alot more traumatizing then how catherine dies
ReplyDeleteExactly in my book numbers 1,2,and 3 were killed already and know they are after john
Deletein my book, people are also dying and Cas has to deal with all of that. But my character has already grown used to deaths because he's the one killing them again. Cas took over for his dad when ha was killed.
DeleteIn my novel, the main character has to marry her uncle, but she doesn't want to so she keeps telling he parents that she will not marry her uncle. This is an internal conflict because she doesn't want to marry her uncle because when they get marry then she will have to leave her family and nit be able to see them. This is related to Night because Elie has an internal conflict to. He has to go to the camps and when he goes then everyone is sos scared that they are going to get killed and sill never see their families again.
ReplyDeleteI think that your character should not have to marry her uncle, just as well as my character should not get his American kid taken away from him. You did a good job on your summary.
DeleteIn the novel Speak, Melinda can't forget what happened to her in the past and she has trouble with trusting people and making friends. She starts to think differently about the people who used to be her friends. In the novel Night, Elie starts to doubt his religion and realizes that the concentration camps are starting to change him. Elie and Melinda become different to what they were before an incident happened.
ReplyDeleteIn the book night the main character get separated from his family when he is taken away to a camp. He feels sad and confused and a little bit angry. In everlost the main character gets into a very bad accident when she awakes she is on the ground of the woods. She is very confused and scared and sad because she cant find her family. She is mad because she need to see her family but she cant leave the woods.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the same book and i think that the main character is mad at first but then is a little happy that her family did not get hurt in the car crash.
DeleteIn my book everlost the main character is stuck in everlost after getting into a car accident she wakes up confused and doesn't know where she is. Shes scared and sad that she had to leave her family behind. In the book night the main character is feeling the same way he gets separated from his family and he is very confused as to why they put him in the camp.
ReplyDeleteI think that she will never be happy again until she can see her family and she knows that they are safe. She may make a lot of friends but she is still going to be unhappy.
DeleteCas is still haing trouble killing Anna and more and more people are joing in. Cas doesnt want people to know what ha does. The more people there are, the more trouble there will be. He's having an internal conflict because nobody understand him and he just want to keep to himself. Cas's conflict is different from Ellie's conflict. Ellie is wondering why his people are getting killed while Cas is the one doing the killing. Ellie is also having internal conflict but it differs from Cas's.
ReplyDelete-Anna Dressed in Blood
In my book, nobody understands Melinda( the main character) and she keeps to herself too. She is an outsider in her school with no one to understand her.
DeleteJohn Smith has many problems in I am number 4 but the struggle he has like Elie's is the fact that the mogs want to capture and destroy him just like the germans to the jews in the book night
ReplyDeleteIn my book finley doesnt know whether to help a kid our or not. If he helps him then the kid will take his spot on the basketball team. This is internal conflict because it will show his true character. This relates to night because they are both going through struggles and dont know what to do. They both have to do things they dont want to do.
ReplyDeleteIn the series of Harry Potter, Harry has to fight a lot of battles and goes through tough times trying to defeat their main enemy. In Night, Elie and his dad go through hard times trying to stay alive in the concentration camps.
ReplyDelete.... My character is facing the external conflict of the mogs while Elie is facing the external conflict of the germans
ReplyDeleteShe doenst know what to do about the people that are trying to kill her niether does elie
ReplyDeleteIn my book it shows how a young girl had lost her life to young. It shows how she is pushing to get them to find her body and to go on with life. She is still on the border line of heaven and earth she want her body to be found so she can go all away to heaven . In the navel night shows how a 13 year old his working for his life and how he could die any day . There show similarities by both of them are the ages of 13-14 and they both fight for their life.
ReplyDeleteIn the book sold Lakshmi faces things that no twelve year old girl should have to go through. In the book she is basically doing things out of her will to support her family who she believe cares nothing about her, or yet alone ever remembers her. Throughout the book she is trapped in a room where she is then sold to men for rupees.this is a hard thing for Lakshmi to go to and emotion bring conflict to her.
ReplyDeleteThe conflict in Lakshmi is the same conflict in the book night. They both are internal and they both dehumanize the characters throughout the book. This conflict has a major effect on the character and the reader.
